Network Infrastructure Engineer - Egg Harbor Township

Location: Egg Harbor Twp, NJ  |  Position Status: Full Time  |  Position Shift: Days

POSITION SUMMARY
The Network Infrastructure Engineer I role is to ensure the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video and wireless network services. This is achieved by planning, designing and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization. In addition, the network engineer will participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support and optimization of all network hardware, software and communication links. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion, as well as providing end-user training where required.

This position may require on-call responsibilities.

This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree with 3 years of related experience required or high school diploma and minimum 5 years of experience required.
  • LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Cisco CCNA certification or higher preferred.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
  • Assists with the design and deployment of company LANs, WANs and wireless networks, including servers, routers, hubs, switches, UPSs and other hardware.
  • Deploys new and existing equipment, hardware and software upgrades.
  • Communicates and coordinates all circuit installations for both internet and permanent physical circuits, and troubleshoots with vendors when corrective action needs to be taken.
  • Configures networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
  • Monitors and tests network performance and troubleshoots problem areas as needed.
  • Monitors integrity of all network security devices and takes corrective/preventive measures as appropriate.
  • Provides network performance statistics and system availability reports.
  • Ensures network connectivity of all servers, workstations, video equipment, telephony equipment, fax machines and other network appliances.
  • Practices network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
  • Participates in managing all network security solutions.
  • Provides guidance to Technical Support and Customer Support team members.
  • Interfaces with the hardware and software networking vendors for technical support when new functionality is requested and escalates problems to central support when assistance is required.
  • Maintains all TCP/IP network addressing schemes.
  • Tests and maintains network security and remote user access.
  • Supports all telecommunication PBX functionality.
  • Performs system performance evaluations and makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Helps to ensure all production environments are configured for high availability to maximize uptime.
  • Assists in the modifications to system hardware and software.
  • Identifies and implements methods to continuously improve processes and outcomes.
  • Analyzes and documents system issues and makes recommendations as needed.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of a disaster recovery plan.
  • Develops programs and tools to automate scheduling of system-related operations and reports.
  • Interacts and negotiates with vendors, outsourcers and contractors to secure network products and services.
  • Identifies opportunities for cost savings appropriate to the department and organization and implements action plans that reduce costs.
  • Conducts research on network products, services, protocols and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry.
  • Collaborates with senior team members, management and department leaders to assess near- and long-term network capacity needs.
  • Assists with the creation and the maintenance of documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes and service records.
  • Assists with the implementation and maintenance of policies, procedures and associated training plans for network administration, usage and disaster recovery.
  • Provides exceptional quality service and support to customer groups.
  • Follows through on commitments to customers.
  • Understands the importance of IT systems support to the delivery of care in a 24x7 environment and ensures application availability within set standards.
  • Understands the need to provide access for clinicians and other members of the healthcare team with the right information at the right time through the availability of seamless, accurate information.
  • Uses communication and teamwork skills to maintain successful working relationships throughout the organization. Listens effectively, builds strong relationships, maintains good rapport and openly shares best practices, tools and expertise.

  • Works under routine direction. Requires minimal supervision in resolving problems or enquiries. Frequently works independently.

  • Responsible for system support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position requires repetitive motion, fingering, hearing, pushing, reaching, reading, seeing, speaking, standing and walking a majority of the time. Spends time with such equipment as a computer terminal, fax machine, copier and telephone. Occasional driving also required.

Reports to department leadership.
