Systems Interface Specialist - Egg Harbor Township

Location: Egg Harbor Twp, NJ  |  Position Status: Full Time  |  Position Shift: Varies

  • Associate's degree required, computer science or information technology preferred, or high school diploma required with 1-2 years of related experience required.
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform standard concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field required.
  • Creativity and innovation towards problem resolution and new development are required.

POSITION SUMMARY
The systems interface specialist analyzes, designs and develops specifications for enhancements and extensions with application interfaces and maps under the supervision of the System Interface Analyst II, III. Assists with testing and application implementation initiatives.

This position may require on-call responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • EDUCATION: Associate's degree required, computer Science or related field preferred, or high school diploma required.
  • LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Cloverleaf – Infor certification, level 1.
  • EXPERIENCE: 1-2 years of experience with implementation of HL7 interfaces. In lieu of degree, 3 years of interface user support role may be considered. Demonstrates the ability to perform standard concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field required. Creativity and latitude are required.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
  • Ensures smooth and efficient technical and/or operational support of production information systems interfaces as assigned.*
  • Effectively assists with in-depth systems analyses, design, development, testing and installation of new interfaces or the enhanced function of existing interfaces.
  • Develops sophisticated and complex programs and algorithms to insert, maintain and/or extract data from complex systems.*
  • Maintains knowledgebase of existing and emerging interface standards as they apply to AtlantiCare.
  • Ensures that an appropriate level of auditing is present in all systems.*

REQUIREMENTS
  • Cloverleaf-certified, level 1 required.
  • Knowledge of UNIX/LINUX, Korn, Bash, Shell scripting and cron job programming preferred.
  • Experience working with different data formats required (e.g., HL7, XML, CSV, JSON, HTML and CCDs).
  • Writes and debugs HL7 messaging.
  • Strong programming skills with the ability to develop coding using TCL required.
  • Understands procedural and object-oriented programming methodologies, Java, C# a plus.
  • Experience building interfaces between registration, clinical and financial systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic networking with different connectivity solutions (e.g., VPN, SFTP, TCP-IP, FHIR, web services preferred).
  • Familiarity with Cerner FSI elements.
  • Familiarity with Allscripts/McKesson interface functionality.
  • Knowledge of Cerner Scheduling/Admission functions as they relate to interfaces.
  • Knowledge of Cerner orders and results as they relate to interfaces.
  • Thorough knowledge of ADT, ORM, ORU, DFT, MDM, SIU and JSON message types preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills required.
  • Demonstrate organization and planning using Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams and Visio. Knowledge of Footprints/change management documentation a plus.
  • Acts as a technical liaison with software application vendors for all HL7 interface issues.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with a strong emphasis on documentation.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
  • Ability to exercise effective decision making in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of healthcare data and workflow required.
  • Prepares and maintains appropriate systems, procedural and operational documentation.
  • Works appropriately and directly with internal customers to develop/clarify information.
  • Adheres to AtlantiCare policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment on an occasional basis, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances and potential injury. Works with such equipment as a computer terminal, fax machine, copier and telephone. This position requires repetitive motion, fingering, hearing, pushing, reaching, reading, calculating, seeing, speaking, standing and walking a majority of the time. Occasional driving also required.

This position reports to the clinical technology manager.
