Position Summary:
Under the supervision of a licensed independent practitioner, the therapist may provide individual, family, group, addiction and other modalities to clients and their families according to demonstrated competence. The therapist is supervised in these tasks by a licensed independent practitioner.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Completes bio-psychosocial assessments and prepares a comprehensive treatment plan for each client.
Maintains patient files according to department procedure/policy protocol.
Verifies and enters all information into the computer accurately.
Performs office support duties, i.e., filing, typing, copying, mail distribution, resulting in efficient operations.
Accurately takes telephone messages and repeats key information to verify accuracy.
Monitors SBYSP offices to ensure comfort and convenience of clients and families.
Assists with planning and facilitation of recreational activities as needed.
Maintains confidentiality as related to patients, staff members and departmental operations.
Promptly acknowledges and graciously receives patients, clients and visitors.
Completes daily tasks within the assigned shift.
Consistently coordinates work to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency within the context of a team.
Consistently performs duties with little or no supervision.
Demonstrates appropriate initiative to meet the requests of all internal and external customers.
Handles all situations efficiently, tactfully and confidentially.
Willingly accepts and accurately completes other duties as assigned to assist with business unit functions.
Demonstrates flexibility and teamwork by willing accepting any and all scheduled shifts.
Processes new clients, client transfers and client closings according to procedures, including notification of director and host school to PIP referrals.
Provides presentations on various topics to health classes.
Provides basic case management services and documents treatment provided.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate to any age/disability group assigned.
Assesses client for an Initial Treatment Plan and appropriately reassesses the client's needs throughout treatment.
Completes Master Treatment Plans that are behaviorally specific and with goals and objectives that are related to client problem areas. All Master Treatment Plans indicate level of client/family involvement.
Provides competent individual, family, couples and group psychotherapy and substance abuse therapy. Provides other therapeutic services, within scope of demonstrated competence, as required, including psychoeducational groups to health classes and community as needed.
Provides competent crisis intervention.
Assists with case management and interagency coordination of services for clients. Makes appropriate referrals.
Provides clinical guidance and appropriate interaction with external providers.
Documents all client interactions, including all sessions with clients, families, significant others, etc., within established time frames.
Completes Progress Notes accurately, addressing treatment goals, major clinical issues and changes in mental health status.
Writes in a professional and competent manner.
Documentation must be completed within one (1) calendar day of service delivery.
Contributs to unit LOS.
Minimal Qualifications:
Education: Master's degree in behavioral health with either New Jersey LAC or LSW licensure required.
Experience: Two (2) years in a behavioral health setting. Must be able to conduct therapy sessions in the language of the population served, if applicable.
Training: Therapists providing assessment, treatment planning and psychotherapy to SA/MICA clients must have 60 hours of training specific to addiction services. CPI, HSFAC are required within 90 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional years experience in a behavioral health setting.
