Surgery Center Director of Nursing

Location: Egg Harbor Twp, NJ  |  Position Status: Full Time  |  Position Shift: Days
The Director of Nursing ensures expert nursing care delivery by providing ongoing staff education, consultation, evidence-based clinical practice and leadership.

The Director of Nursing supervises staff in their daily activities to ensure the delivery of care according to established departmental policies and procedures. The Director of Nursing is responsible for ensuring nursing and clinical staffing patterns are appropriate to ensure high-quality care. On an annual basis, the Director of Nursing reviews growth objectives and makes recommendations to ASC leadership in planning and budgeting for the nursing, clinical and operational budget. This position is responsible for resolving staff, patient, visitor and physician issues or concerns in a timely manner. The Director of Nursing will keep the Administrator informed of any unresolvable issues. The Director of Nursing completes all performance reviews for direct reports. The Director of Nursing is responsible for monitoring budgetary practices, preparing staff schedules, developing and implementing performance improvement activities, ongoing competency training and orienting new employees to the unit.

The Director of Nursing serves as a key communicator for organizational updates, policy changes and education needs. This position establishes and maintains communication with physicians and other professionals to promote high-quality, safe and efficient operations of the facility.

This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts, and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation. The Director of Nursing is available in the facility during hours of operation and assigns a designee, as appropriate. The Director of Nursing is assigned as the Acting Administrator when the named administrator is not available

  • EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. BSN preferred.
  • LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of New Jersey. BLS required. ACLS required. National certification in specialty preferred.
  • EXPERIENCE: Meets qualifications as outlined for specialty. 3 years of clinical experience required within specialty. Ambulatory surgery center experience preferred. At least one year of supervisory experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as leadership skills, required. Proficiency in clinical applications preferred at time of hire. Incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.

Demonstrates the ability to perform the department-specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the surgery center environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, blood-borne pathogens and potential injury

Physical demands include, but are not limited to, considerable stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing heavy equipment and excessive standing and walking. Lifts approximately 25-50 lbs. frequently; lifts 50-100 lbs. with assistance occasionally. Some departments require the ability to distinguish colors. Essential functions for this position are listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

This position reports to department leadership and supervises incumbents as assigned.
