School Health Specialist

Location: Egg Harbor Twp, NJ  |  Position Status: Part Time  |  Position Shift: Days
The School Health Specialist supports school and community program objectives by identifying community health needs and will assist in the planning and implementation of programs and strategies designed for advancing the health of children, their families and the school community in accordance with the strategic and business objectives of AtlantiCare.

The School Health Specialist assists local school districts in developing, organizing and executing health and wellness initiatives within the framework of the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child model.

The School Health Specialist builds and maintains strong community and internal relations and seeks out opportunities for program enhancement and service expansion in the AtlantiCare primary and regional service areas.

This position supports organizational goals by providing quality community and customer service; by promoting health through a myriad of venues, including special events; and by demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in related health education field required.
  • LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: A certified health education specialist (CHES) or comparable professional development certification and/or license preferred or obtained within one year of employment. A valid NJ driver's license is required.
  • EXPERIENCE: Minimum 3 years of professional health education and program development experience in a school or youth-based setting, or similar setting, required. Grant management experience strongly preferred. High level of computer proficiency required, including Microsoft Office, internet and social media, required. Writing experience preferred, including blogs, newsletters and email blasts.

  • Performs job duties in a manner consistent with the organization's regulatory requirements and departmental standards.
  • Possesses working knowledge of current technology used in the marketing of health messaging and necessary for executing program goals.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to hazards and risks of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous substances and the potential for injury.

This position requires travel mostly in and around the AtlantiCare primary service areas, as well as some travel within the regional service area of AtlantiCare. Other locations may be required as related to job expectations. Position requires flexibility of work hours. This position requires occasional walking and standing. May have prolonged periods of sitting, occasional work outdoors and frequently working with such equipment as a computer terminal/fax machine/copier/telephone. Position will also require ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
