The Perioperative Operating Room Supervisor, Surgery Center, ensures expert nursing care delivery by providing staff education, consultation, evidence-based clinical practice and leadership in the operating room setting.
This role will supervise operating room staff in their daily activities to ensure the delivery of care according to established departmental policies and procedures. This position assists leadership with resolving employee human resource management, fiscal and budgetary practices, performance reviews, developing and implementing performance improvement activities and orienting new employees.
This role serves as a key communicator for organizational updates, policy changes and education needs. This position establishes and maintains communication with physicians and other professionals to promote mutual understanding of problems and plans of care.
This position acts as a professional/clinical resource collaborating with physicians, clinicians, purchasing, vendors and staff to identify the supply and instrument resources and preferences prior to scheduled procedures.
The Perioperative Operating Room Supervisor is also designated as the Acting Director of Nursing in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation. This position performs other leadership duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. Bachelor's in nursing.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of New Jersey. BLS required. National certification in specialty preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Meets qualifications as outlined for specialty. 3-5 years of clinical experience required within specialty required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as leadership skills, required. Proficiency in clinical applications preferred at time of hire. Incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the ability to perform the department-specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to blood-borne pathogens, along with infectious diseases. Physical demands include, but are not limited to, considerable stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing heavy equipment and excessive standing and walking. Lifting approximately 25-50 lbs. frequently; lifting 50-10 lbs. with assistance occasionally. Some departments require the ability to distinguish colors.
