The Mobile/Specialty Care Transport RN provides 911 advanced life support, as well as basic life support, in the emergency setting to the community and surrounding areas under the direction of a Medical Command physician. The RN has accountability for the advanced life support needs of the interfacility transport patient, including assessment and medication administration, in accordance with verbal orders and written protocols.
The RN is responsible for ensuring the emergency vehicle, equipment and inventory are sufficiently stocked, clean and in good working order at the start of each shift. Provides advanced life support in the pre-hospital setting for patients under the direction of a Medical Command physician as part of a patient care team. The RN has accountability for the advanced life support needs of the pre-hospital patient, including assessment and medication administration, in accordance with verbal and written protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Graduate of an NLN-approved school of nursing required. Bachelor's of Science in Nursing preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current license to practice nursing in New Jersey. Current MICN and/or MICP preferred. Current ACLS required. Certification in one of the following: CEN, CCRN or CTRN, PALS or PEPP, as well as PHTLS, or ITLS and NRP: required for MICN endorsement (New hires may begin employment and complete the necessary requirements through AtlantiCare in order to gain MICN endorsement and necessary certifications. These requirements must be completed successfully within 3 months of hire for employment to continue). Proof of valid New Jersey driver's license required. Proof of completing National Incident Command Courses ICS 100 and IS 700 required.

EXPERIENCE: Two to five years of critical care experience in emergency room, critical care or intensive care unit of an acute care hospital required. Proficiency in clinical applications preferred at time of hire. Incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 90 days from date of hire.

Demonstrates the competencies as established by the department and on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, blood-borne pathogens (including exposure to infectious disease), hazardous substances and potential injury. This position requires sitting, standing, walking, stooping and crouching a majority of the workday. This position requires pushing and pulling equipment up to 50 lbs and lifting patients up to 300 lbs with assistance.
