The Specialty Care Transport RN/EMT provides specialty care transport, as well as basic life support, in the emergency and inter-facility transport setting for the community/surrounding areas and AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center under the direction of a Medical Command physician. The SCT RN/EMT has accountability for the critical care needs of the inter-facility transport patients, including assessment and medication administration in accordance with verbal orders and written protocols.
The SCT RN/EMT is responsible for ensuring the vehicle and equipment/supplies are sufficiently stocked and clean with all equipment in good working order at the start and end of each shift. Provides critical care in the inter-facility transport setting for patients under the direction of a Medical Command physician as part of a patient care team.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Graduate of a NLN-approved school of nursing required. Bachelor's of Science in Nursing preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current license to practice nursing in New Jersey. Current EMT or able to obtain in 90 days. Current certification in one of the following: CEN, CCRN or CTRN or within 1 year of hire. ACLS, PALS and/or PEPP required. PHTLS and/or ITLS and NRP required (New hires may begin employment and complete the necessary requirements through AtlantiCare. These requirements must be completed successfully within 3 months of hire for employment to continue). Proof of valid New Jersey driver's license required. Proof of completing National Incident Command Courses IS-100 and IS-700 required.

EXPERIENCE: One to five years of critical care experience in emergency room, critical care or intensive care unit of an acute care hospital required.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the competencies as established by the department and on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, blood-borne pathogens (including exposure to infectious disease), hazardous substances and potential injury. This position requires sitting, standing, walking, stooping and crouching a majority of the workday. This position requires pushing and pulling equipment up to 50 lbs and lifting patients up to 300 lbs with assistance.
