Recovery Specialist

Location: Atlantic City, NJ  |  Position Status: Per Diem/Pool  |  Position Shift: Varies
The recovery specialist will engage individuals reversed from an opioid overdose and provide non-clinical assistance and recovery supports while maintaining follow-up with these individuals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Educates survivors on how to appropriately navigate treatment, social service and recovery support systems.
  • Acts as positive role model to survivors and their families by sharing experiential knowledge, hope and skills.
  • Maintains relationships with survivors and families in order to assists individuals in the treatment engagement and retention process.
  • Reinforces, guides and ensures patients and their families that recovery is possible and is built upon multiple strengths, coping abilities and resources of each individual.
  • Assists survivors with gaining skills and resources needed to initiate and maintain recovery.
  • Assists in establishing and sustain a social and physical environment supportive of recovery.
  • Enhances, identifies and participates in the recovery community.
  • Advocates for appropriate and effective community treatment and recovery.
  • Empowers individuals to make self-determined and self-directed choices about their recovery pathways.
  • Provides on-call coverage and goes to the emergency room to support the overdose victim when an alert is received.
  • Provides post-emergency department telephone follow-up for at least 60 days to help the survivor navigate the early stages of seeking assistance and beginning a successful path towards recovery.

Minimal Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma required; associate's degree preferred. Valid NJ driver's license required.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in guiding principles of recovery. Bilingual preferred.
