Under the direction of the program aide supervisor, the program aide is responsible for client safety, monitoring clients' behavior and movement, and assisting counselors with various aspects of client activities as needed.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for providing coverage for all residential facilities, monitoring client safety and activities to ensure that clients adhere to program rules and regulations.
Responsible for conducting client head counts.
Monitors and assists clinical team in client treatment activities as needed.
Responsible for client check-in forms, discharge forms, inventory forms, room reassignments and personal property checklist and effectively documenting all information.
Monitors all client behavior as needed, de-escalating potentially violent situations, resolving conflicts and forwarding pertinent information to the supervisor.
Responsible for maintaining client confidentiality in accordance with state, federal and HIPAA regulations and John Brooks Recovery Center (JBRC) policy and procedures.
Attends and participates in all required meetings and trainings.
Responsible for responding to JBRC emergencies and making appropriate contacts.
Responsible for notifying referral agencies (identified contacts) in case of resident abscond.
Responsible for escorting drug court and/or mandated clients to and from approved appointments outside of facility.
Ensures client adherence to daily schedule.
Responsible for being punctual and reporting for work when scheduled, to include meal break reliefs and other schedules as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned by program aide supervisor and other management as required.
Ability to maintain professional and ethical boundaries and be a team player.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Capable of lifting approximately 10 to 20 lbs.
Walking and the ability to move around on foot to accomplish tasks.
Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to communicate both orally and written.
Must be able to handle stressful situations in a professional manner.
Must have active listening skills.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
When conducting searchesn programs aides will be supplied with protective gloves.
Program aides have the option to wear protective body coverage.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment when supervising and monitoring clients in a residential setting.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge in procedures necessary to oversee the safety of clients, visitors and staff in all JBRC residential facilities.
Demonstrate the ability to interact with clients in an appropriate therapeutic manner.
Ability to write accurate documentation regarding safety and client incidents.
Ability to recognize the elements of a client crisis.
Ability to establish and maintain a positive and cooperative working relationship with all employees.
Ability to deliver service in a way that is responsive, respectful, caring and helpful while maintaining confidentiality, ethical and professional boundaries.
Ability to demonstrate responsiveness and flexibility as clients' needs and priorities shift.
Ability to be respectful of diverse cultures, ethnic and religious backgrounds, as well as alternative lifestyles.
