Manager, Emergency Management & Security Services

Location: Atlantic City, NJ  |  Position Status: Full Time  |  Position Shift: Varies
The AtlantiCare Emergency Management and Security Services Manager is responsible for managing the AtlantiCare Emergency Management Program and related functions. This position also manages the Emergency Operations Centers and Security Operations Centers. This includes assigned personnel, technology, the physical environment, equipment and products within that environment, as well as assisting with the development of Security staff and competencies. The Emergency Management and Security Services Manager is part of the AtlantiCare Security Services Division and a member of the Security Management Team. This position requires a responsive leader and problem solver working to ensure the safety and security of staff, patients and visitors. The manager leads by example and works proactively to ensure the environment of care and complete administrative duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the hospital's emergency management programs, including disaster preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation efforts.
  • Coordinate with local, state and federal emergency agencies and other healthcare organizations to ensure a unified response to emergencies.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and security audits to identify potential emergency scenarios and develop appropriate response strategies.
  • Lead the training and drills for Security staff and other hospital employees on emergency procedures, ensuring all personnel are equipped to handle a variety of crisis situations.
  • Manage and maintain emergency management systems and equipment, ensuring they are operational and effective at all times.
  • Assist with the development of the budget for Emergency Management, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Serve as the primary contact for all matters related to hospital security and emergency management.
  • Prepare and present reports on emergency readiness and response activities to hospital administration and relevant committees.
  • Identify and pursue grant opportunities to support emergency management initiatives. Manage the application process and oversee the implementation of funded projects.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards and guidelines set by authorities like The Joint Commission, OSHA and others pertinent to healthcare security and emergency management.
  • Collaborate with other department heads to integrate emergency management with overall hospital operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree required.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
  • Valid New Jersey driver's license required.
  • FEMA Certification: Incident Command System (IS) required within 6 months from date of hire or transfer.
  • IS 100 – Incident Command Overview
  • IS 200 – ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents
  • IS 700 – National Incident Management System (NIMS)
  • IS 906 – Workplace Safety
  • IS 907 – Active Shooter Training
  • CPI required within 6 months from the date of hire or transfer. Once obtained, required at all times.
  • IAHSS Basic and Advanced certification required within 6 months of hire or transfer.
  • BLS is required within 6 months of hire.

EXPERIENCE:
  • Five years of experience as a security officer, preferably in an acute care hospital environment, or full-time sworn law enforcement and emergency management work experience required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills, both written and verbal, required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other security-related applications/programs required.
  • Proven project management experience preferred.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, bloodborne pathogens, hazardous substances and potential injury. Exposure to all weather conditions during patrols and post. Moderate to heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, continuous walking and standing.
