The maintenance mechanic performs skilled maintenance and repair of a variety of maintenance and engineering duties for the Facilities Management department. This position is assigned to work for the Assistant Director of Facilities or the Maintenance Supervisor on a regular basis. In addition, this position is called upon to work on projects with other trade mechanics, make rounds and report discrepancies to the Assistant Director of Facilities.
The maintenance mechanic will assist with work to ensure that work orders and preventative maintenance work are corrected in a timely and cost-effective manner. This position has a general working knowledge of areas of maintenance and repair and performs other general maintenance responsibilities not directly related to designated or licensed trade and works independently.

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High school or vo-tech graduate or equivalent experience in trade, or seven years of total experience in a similar-sized and type of facility in an engineering discipline.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum 5-7 years of overall commercial, industrial or institutional building maintenance and repair of environmental facility systems is required. Exception: We will accept a graduate of an accredited apprenticeship training program and 4 years of experience. The mechanic must be able to read and interrupt architectural, mechanical and electrical drawings and specifications. Ability to follow equipment service manual instructions.
