Lead SPD Technician - Surgery Center - Little Egg Harbor Township

Location: Little Egg Harbor Twp, NJ  |  Position Status: Full Time  |  Position Shift: Days
The SPD lead processing technician is responsible for the operation of all sterilization and cleaning equipment and daily work assignments within the Sterile Processing department.

This position coordinates the activities of the processing technicians. The lead technician must be able to perform all duties and responsibilities as a certified sterile processing technician. The lead technician tracks performance improvement and monitors staff performance for accuracy and compliance to set indicators. This position assists the supervisor and/or manager to ensure that all department documentation is complete and accurate and reports any variance to immediate supervisor.

This position assists the manager/director or supervisor with competency testing, employee performance evaluations and training. This position communicates necessary changes to staff.

This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Certified registered central service technician certification, recognized by NJ Department of Health required. Certified instrument specialist preferred. Lead technicians are responsible for maintaining CRCST and CIS certifications yearly.
  • EXPERIENCE: Minimum 3 years of experience within SPD/sterilization required. Basic computer skills required. Candidates must be fluent in the English language. Based upon workload and staffing needs, incumbents must be available to work any shift as needed. Leadership experience preferred.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the ability to perform the department-specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool. Exhibits the core behavioral competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances and potential injury. Requires, extensive walking, standing and lifting. Requires the ability to push and or pull 40 lbs or greater with good body mechanics.

The SPD lead processing technician reports to department leadership.
