This position is responsible for cleaning and maintaining patient rooms and general areas according to established departmental practices and standards. The housekeeper supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service to co-workers, patients and visitors.
The housekeeper cleans patient rooms and general areas, makes beds and removes trash and linen in occupied and unoccupied rooms in accordance with departmental procedures. The housekeeper performs cycle cleaning and furniture placement as directed.
Through effective communication and cooperative teamwork, the housekeeper provides assistance to supervisors and co-workers as necessary. The housekeeper responds to patient and visitor inquiries in a courteous manner.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Ability to read, write and speak in English is required. High school diploma preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Experience helpful, but not required.

Demonstrates the ability to perform the department-specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances and potential injury.
Physical demands include, but are not limited to, excessive walking, standing and lifting up to approximately 50 lbs.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to the Housekeeping supervisor and takes direction from the lead housekeeper.
