The EMS BLS assistant clinical supervisor assists the EMS clinical supervisor with oversight of BLS clinical operations and compliance for the EMS Department.
The EMS BLS assistant clinical supervisor is responsible for the provision of a high standard of emergency medical care to the citizens of Atlantic and Cape May County and surrounding areas. This position supports organizational goals by providing high-quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.
The EMS BLS assistant clinical supervisor is a role model for desired company values, responsible for resolving customer service issues, operating within budgetary guidelines, identifying ways to best utilize system resources, and maximizing performance through continual reassessment of EMS system needs.
The EMS BLS assistant clinical supervisor is responsible for assisting the clinical supervisor with BLS new hire clinical orientation, communicating performance expectations and providing feedback to staff on a consistent basis. The EMS BLS assistant clinical supervisor will also oversee the EMS department's BLS FTO program. The EMS BLS assistant clinical supervisor will also oversee all aspects of BLS clinical feedback.
The EMS BLS assistant clinical supervisor is responsible for assisting the EMS clinical supervisor with the review of clinical/quality QA/QI for the BLS division, which will lead to interactions with staff, leadership and external agencies. The EMS BLS assistant clinical supervisor will assist the EMS clinical supervisor with building and issue performance improvement plans alongside the clinical manager and medical director. The EMS BLS assistant clinical supervisor will investigate all BLS clinical concerns and bring those findings to the clinical manager and medical director.
The EMS BLS assistant clinical supervisor is responsible for the planning of BLS EMS competencies — dates, hours and logistics. Prepares all BLS EMS certifications (initial and recertification) for the EMS department. The EMS BLS assistant clinical supervisor will also recommend/benchmark clinical metrics and pull department data as requested.
This position will ensure appropriate and coordinated use of educational and quality resources between AtlantiCare EMS departments, other AtlantiCare departments and external agencies.
This position will work street shifts as required by EMS leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Associate's degree in healthcare, EMS, business or related field degree preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Certified as an EMT or paramedic by the State of New Jersey required or licensed as an RN. Current BLS, ACLS, PALS or PEPP Certification required. Completion of the National Incident Command courses, ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800 required. FEMA Professional Development Series, ICS 300, 400 within 1 year. New Jersey EMD and Communications Officer within 6 months. Valid driver's license required. Instructor status in New Jersey EMT, CPR, PEPP and PHTLS preferred.

EXPERIENCE: 5-10 years of BLS work experience in a 9-1-1 system. Supervisory experience preferred. Effective interpersonal, organizational and communication skills required. Knowledge of all aspects of emergency policies and procedures and clinical applications required.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, blood-borne pathogens (including exposure to infectious disease), hazardous substances and potential injury. This position requires sitting, standing, walking, stooping and crouching a majority of the workday. This position requires pushing and pulling equipment up to 20 pounds and lifting up to 100 pounds with assistance.

This position reports EMS clinical manager.
