Graduate of an accredited cardiovascular school preferred.
Registered with RDCS certification or CCI registration with RCS certification for echo required. Must be ARDMS with RVT or CCI with RVS certification for vascular or be registry-eligible and complete registry within 6 months of hire preferred.
American Heart BLS/CPR certification required. ACLS certification preferred.
1-2 years of non-invasive experience in an echo and vascular laboratory preferred. The technologist performs specific testing based on his/her educational level and clinical proficiency.
This echo vascular sonographer position performs cardiovascular diagnostic testing according to established departmental procedures.
The sonographer must be able to perform echocardiograms and vascular ultrasound procedures of the carotid, peripheral and abdominal vessels to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disorders/diseases affecting circulation in accordance with established practices and procedures. The technologist produces two- and three-dimensional ultrasonic imaging, understands heart rhythms interpretation and utilizes equipment proficiently. The echo vascular sonographer needs to have a working knowledge of vascular arterial anatomy for carotid and peripheral vasculature in order to perform diagnostic echocardiograms, carotids, abdominal aorta screenings, ABI and Arterial studies of lower extremities of patients suspected peripheral vascular disease following IAC/ICAEL and ICAVL guidelines and in accordance with the echo/vascular laboratory protocols. Maintains equipment per respective policies and reports any malfunctions to the Bio-Medical Services department. This position delivers care in a prompt and professional manner, always maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and respect. The sonographer works as part of the care team to meet the needs of the customer and to support departmental objectives.
This position performs related office duties and participates in performance improvement activities.
