The Director of Clinical Ancillary Systems is responsible for building or configuring, maintaining or enhancing, and eventually decommissioning ancillary applications, products or technology solutions through the life cycle. This group is responsible for all applications and technology-enabling products related to clinical care delivery for specific clinical service lines. The Director of Clinical Ancillary Systems is also closely aligned with corresponding operational, business and administrative leaders for AtlantiCare. The director will also provide administration, direction and support for daily operational activities and work closely with decision makers to identify, recommend and implement cost-effective clinical solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Master's degree in computer science, information systems or healthcare-related field required. In lieu of master's degree, additional four years of experience required.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Valid driver's license.

EXPERIENCE: 8 years of IT-related and healthcare experience required (in lieu of master's degree, a total of 12 years of experience required). Minimum of 3 years as a manager required. Advanced knowledge of applications and technology integration. Ability to mentor team. Experience in managing multiple projects.

Works with IT leaders to develop overall clinical information system strategy in the context of the clinical operations, business strategies and initiatives of AtlantiCare.

Ensures that clinical information system processes, including those of third-party consulting or external service providers, are conducted in line with corporate social responsibility, environmental and technical policies, and applicable regulatory standards and legislation.

Directs your team members, developing their skills and capabilities to meet the needs of the organization, as well as building on existing recruiting capabilities to address new needs and skills gaps.

Works with clinical operations leadership to implement and manage clinical ancillary system application roadmaps status reporting, metrics and benchmarks.

Manages relationships with major solution vendors and service providers to ensure they cost-effectively meet the needs of the organization.

Oversees the assessment of the technical, clinical operation and business fitness of the clinical application portfolio and their associated costs and risks.

Ensures the clinical information system application governance process is followed to gain consensus on a prioritized set of measurable clinical outcomes that applications and solutions must support.

Works with clinical service line management, stakeholders and the information technology leaders to define a prioritized set of clinical and business outcomes and application work to accomplish those outcomes within the limitations of the application budget.

Works with stakeholders to improve the business and technical fitness of the clinical system portfolio and minimizes its ongoing support costs.

Oversees benefits realization to ensure that clinical operations and business outcomes are achieved.

Oversees support activities in conjunction with all AIT departments to ensure the application products perform well in production.

Oversees development of successful delivery of code upgrades and service pack releases from application solution vendors.

This position requires on-call responsibilities and on-site responsibilities and is remote occasionally.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment on an occasional basis, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances and potential injury. This position requires balancing, fingering, reaching, seeing, driving and speaking a majority of the time. Works with such equipment as a computer terminal, fax machine, copier and telephone. Occasional carrying up to 20 lbs. also required.

This position reports to the AVP, IT Enterprise Applications.
