POSITION SUMMARY
The Diagnostic Technologist – X-Ray performs diagnostic testing according to established departmental procedures, ensuring the delivery of quality patient care.

The Diagnostic Technologist – X-Ray performs diagnostic testing as directed by the physician at a competent technical level not requiring constant supervision. This position operates diagnostic equipment, including peripheral equipment, in a safe and efficient manner to obtain optimal test results. The technologist manages the patient during the diagnostic procedure to meet quality patient care standards. This position ensures supplies are maintained and reports problems with equipment to the appropriate staff member.

This position actively participates in and supports student clinical education activities where applicable.

This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • LICENSE: Licensed by the State of New Jersey, Department of Environmental Protection for Diagnostic Radiography. Credentialed under ARRT for (R). NJDEP state license expires every two years and must be renewed biennially as an essential work requirement. ARRT expires on incumbent's date of birth and must be renewed annually as an essential work requirement.
  • EXPERIENCE: Candidates must possess ability to multitask with attention to fine detail in a fast-paced environment. Incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.

X-Ray

Graduate of an accredited radiological technologist school required.

 

1 year of diagnostic testing experience preferred.

 

 

BLS for Healthcare Providers required.

 

Licensed by the State of NJ, Department of Environmental Protection.
 

Registered as American Registry of Radiology Technologist.
 


PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the ability to perform the identified and required duties for department-specific role as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.                                                                 

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, potential injury and hazardous substances, including electromagnetic radiation.  Position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk and communicate and interface with computer-based applications.  Position requires extensive pushing, pulling and lifting of patients and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

X-Ray

Skeletal and all body systems including, but not limited to, pulmonary, cardiac/cardiovascular, GI, GU/GYN, oncology, etc., during radiology exams.

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to the Radiology Manager. This position takes direction from the Lead Diagnostic Technologist. Location and departmentally dependent, this position may report to an alternate supervisor or manager.
