Dental Hygienist

Location: Atlantic City, NJ  |  Position Status: Full Time  |  Position Shift: Days
The licensed dental hygienist examines and educates patients for signs of oral diseases, such as gingivitis, and provides preventive care, including oral hygiene. The licensed dental hygienist also takes quality X-rays and intro oral photos, performs oral prophylaxis, polishes and scales, maintains and completes documentation and communication of clinical findings, maintains inventory of supplies and maintenance, provides patient education and home care instructions and nutrition, maintains hygiene recall and communication with patients, supports the doctor in treatment planning, and ensures an excellent patient experience.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED certificate. CODA-accredited completion of dental hygiene program. National Board Dental Hygiene Examination, Commission on Dental Competency Assessments Examination.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing sufficient to perform the essential functions; read, understand and apply policies and guidelines; and obtain information from a variety of sources required.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Licensed Dental Hygienist by New Jersey State Division of Consumer Affairs. Permit for the administration of local anesthesia. Monitoring and BLS required within 6 months of hire. Nitrous monitoring and BLS required within 6 months of hire.
  • EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years of dental hygienist experience required. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Proficiency in clinical applications preferred at time of hire. Incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to blood-borne pathogens, along with infectious diseases (refers to Blood-Bourne Pathogen requirement).
