Data Analyst II - Finance - On-site Egg Harbor Township

Location: Egg Harbor Twp, NJ  |  Position Status: Full Time  |  Position Shift: Days

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, analytics, economics, statistics, mathematics, actuarial science, public health, health informatics, healthcare administration, finance or related field. Master's degree in analytics, data science or related field preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in healthcare clinical and financial data analysis or 6 years of data analysis or business intelligence experience required.
  • Experience with claims data, EMR data and systems, HRA data, clinical terminology, clinical guidelines, clinical outcomes and healthcare utilization measures preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of healthcare information (health claims data, specifically Medicare and Medicaid, ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-CM codes, physician specialty codes, pharmaceutical data including NCPDP file formats and codes, provider identifiers, etc.) is preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of data warehouses, data marts and business intelligence solutions (SQL, Tableau and R) is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Must possess strong ability to perform root cause analysis and communicate findings in actionable manner.
  • Problem solver, detail-oriented and strong analytical skills required.
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders to understand and respond to their needs.
  • A detailed knowledge of business and healthcare processes.
  • Ability to influence teams and have crucial conversations with tact.
  • Ability to develop business requirements specifications according to standard templates using natural language.
  • Experience with analytics reporting and data interpretation/presentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communicators and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers and subject matter experts.
  • Strong ability to work independently and within team setting to achieve outcomes.

 

POSITION SUMMARY
The data analyst is responsible for overseeing, organizing and optimizing healthcare data, including EMR and claims data used to help drive strategic decisions and work activities for AtlantiCare. The analyst is responsible for the configuration and administration of analytic tools; the development and use of databases, data marts, reports and dashboards; and the interpretation of data and analysis results using statistical techniques. Provides essential data support and analyses for various business initiatives. Researches, analyzes, validates and prepares data for use in monitoring and reporting, strategy support and special projects.

This role requires working with multiple sources of healthcare data (ex: claims, financial and clinical data) to meet both internal and external reporting requirements and support new initiatives. Projects range from simple programming and basic data manipulation/analysis to more advanced techniques and analytics. The analyst will master a variety of tools (ex: SQL, Excel, Tableau) to access data, write queries, create dashboards, run reports and manipulate and analyze large data sets to meet the needs of the organization. The analyst will present analytical findings in a variety of formats (reports, PowerPoint, Tableau, graphs, figures and tables), formulating recommendations, and effectively present results to non-analytic audiences.

The analyst will have exceptionally strong analytical thinking to break down complex problems and a strong will to get things done and deliver accurate results. Demonstrated experience in analytical problem solving (including statement of problem, identification and collection of pertinent data, analysis, recommendation and revaluation) strongly preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in required. Master's degree in analytics, data science or related field preferred.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position requires sitting, standing, walking, stopping and crouching for a majority of the workday. This position works with such equipment as a computer terminal, fax machines, printer and copier. This position may require occasional lifting.
