Central Billing Office Clerk

Location: Egg Harbor Twp, NJ  |  Position Status: Full Time  |  Position Shift: Days

The central billing clerk is responsible for transmitting all electronic claims, completing all paper claims, monitoring all accounts receivable and payable, monitoring authorizations and working closely with each registrar to ensure compliance with standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Transmit all electronic claims within established time frames.
  • Complete all paper billing claims within established time frames.
  • Monitor assigned accounts receivable to ensure compliance with financial policies.
  • Collect required data and prepare reports for outside funding sources within established timeframes.
  • Work closely with each registrar to ensure compliance with financial policies.
  • Monitor payer trends and communicate them to the CBO Manager within established timeframes.
  • Monitor the process for efficiency and recommend improvements, as needed, to the CBO Manager.
  • Communicate with various private insurance companies and resolve billing disputes.
  • Respond in a professional and courteous manner to client billing questions within established timeframes.
  • Complete daily Avatar Central Billing reports.
  • Accurately enter payments and denial information into Avatar according to ABH negotiated contract rates.
  • Data entry rate for hospital charge entry will be a minimum of 100 completed charges per day. All PIP charges must be entered the day the fax is received by CBO. CBO will monitor through Avatar Reports that all billing slips are received within 5 days of the patient's discharge. Follow-up with the CBO Manager, as appropriate.

Minimal Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: 1 year in a clerical position.
  • Training: Relevant computer program training.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: 1 year in a setting that involves direct customer care.

Equipment Use: Computer, copier, facsimile, typewriter and shredder.
