The billing team specialist is responsible for providing on-the-floor coaching to their respective billing team to assist staff in managing their workload and resolving issues to root causes. Provides trends and analyses to leadership so issues can be addressed timely
The billing team specialist processes all patient accounts for their designated area in order to procure payments from third-party and patient pay accounts. The billing team specialist ensures the accuracy of patient records and compliance with state and federal regulations. The billing team specialist verifies patient insurance, collects deductibles and arranges payment plans. This position assists patients with questions regarding bills, insurance and alternative payment plans.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required.

EXPERIENCE: 5 years of experience in hospital billing office or billing, insurance or other related healthcare field. Minimum of 1 year of experience in a lead position, either officially or can demonstrate with examples of experience. Must have excellent computer skills and working knowledge of medical terminology.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances and potential injury. Position requires sitting at a desk/computer a majority of the day and frequent walking, standing and reaching. This position also may require the ability to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds. Works with equipment such as a computer terminal, fax machine, printer and copier.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to the billing supervisor in the Business Office in ARMC and the Business Office billing manager in lieu of a supervisor.
