Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION:

Physician Assistant: Completion of a master's degree from an accredited physician assistant/surgical assistant program required.

Acute Care Nurse Practitioner: Master's degree in nursing from an accredited school or as grandfathered by New Jersey law required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

Physician Assistant: Must be certified or eligible for certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and the New Jersey State Board of Education and Licensure. Appointment as an allied health practitioner with the Medical Center in accordance with the Medical Staff bylaws. ACLS required. BLS HCP required.

Acute Care Nurse Practitioner: Current licensure as an RN in the state of New Jersey and certified by the State Board of Nursing as an acute care nurse practitioner. ACLS required. BLS HCP required. RNFA not required for application; however, proof of certification will be required prior to completing orientation process as defined by service line leadership.
EXPERIENCE:

Minimum two years of recent experience in cardiothoracic surgery and/or cardiac critical care preferred, but not required.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The physician assistant or acute care nurse practitioner within the Critical Care department works in collaboration with the multidisciplinary care team to ensure the delivery of the latest evidence-based care of the highest quality. The physician Assistant or acute care nurse practitioner provides comprehensive care as an advanced practice provider within the department of Critical Care at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.
Join our dynamic, rapidly growing team. This exciting opportunity includes management of medical critical care and postoperative cardiac surgery patients. The physician assistant or acute care nurse practitioner cares for patients with advanced cardiac disease who are undergoing a wide variety of interventions, including percutaneous procedures, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, mechanical support with ECMO, and post-coronary artery bypass surgery.
The ideal candidate will have experience in cardiac surgical critical care, point-of-care ultrasound and mechanical support.
Responsibilities

Critical care intensivist APP coverage with Critical Care attending while on ICU rotation.

Collaborating with the multidisciplinary care team facilitate care delivery. Strong communication skills required.

Independently performing bedside procedures, including, but not limited to, central line, pulmonary artery catheter placement, arterial line and midline catheter insertion, NG feeding tube insertion, chest tube insertion, intubation and bronchoscopy.

Bedside extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) management.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, blood-borne pathogens and potential injury.
Physical demands include, but are not limited to, considerable stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing heavy equipment and excessive standing and walking. Lifting approximately 25-30 lbs frequently.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This advanced practice provider collaborates with the physician and reports directly to the Chief Physician Assistant and the Director of Cardiac Surgery.
