Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist - Anesthesia

Location: Atlantic City, NJ  |  Position Status: Full Time  |  Position Shift: Varies
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in nursing from an accredited school or as grandfathered by NJ law.
  • Current licensure as an RN in the state of NJ and certified by the State Board of Nursing.
  • Certification within area of specialty required and granted privileges from ACMC medical staff.
  • NRNNP,C or RNCNS,C registry unencumbered.
  • BLSHCP required.

POSITION SUMMARY
The advanced practice nurse – anesthesia provides high-quality, cost-effective patient care that supports established specialty practice objectives and strategic organizational goals.

This position administers various types of anesthetics according to established medical practices and as directed by the anesthesiologist. The APN monitors and supports life functions during the perioperative period and recognizes and reports any abnormal patient responses to the anesthesiologist. It is responsibility of this position to document all patient activities accurately into the medical record. Patient care is delivered in a cost-effective manner, managing and utilizing resources optimally.

The advanced practice nurse – anesthesia works collaboratively with physicians, management and staff to improve clinical outcomes and to meet customers' expectations. The APN actively participates in quality improvement efforts organization-wide. This position maintains current clinical knowledge and seeks educational and professional opportunities to enhance clinical practice and competency.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • EDUCATION: Master's degree in nursing from an accredited school or as grandfathered by NJ law.
  • LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of New Jersey and certified by the State Board of Nursing. Certification within area of specialty required and granted privileges from Atlantic City Medical Center medical staff. NRNNP,C or RNCNS,C registry unencumbered. BLS Healthcare Practitioner required.
  • EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of New Jersey. Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. Appointment as an Allied Health Practitioner with the Medical Center in accordance with the Medical Staff Bylaws. BLSHCP required.
  • EXPERIENCE: Proficiency in clinical applications preferred at time of hire. Incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the ability to perform the department-specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances and potential injury. This position requires considerable walking and standing, as well as pushing and pulling equipment.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to the Department Chairman of Anesthesia.
