The new graduate registered nurse has the opportunity to strengthen their knowledge and skill in the practice of nursing under the direct supervision of registered nurse preceptor. The new graduate registered nurse performs direct and indirect patient care functions. These activities prepare the new graduate registered nurse as they transition from student nurse to healthcare team member.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.
The new graduate registered nurse will be automatically enrolled into the Vizient/AACN New to Practice Nurse Residency Program. This is a one-year, nationally accredited program that facilitates the new nurse's transition to independent practice. The program provides additional support through monthly seminars and formalized mentorship. Program outcomes include increased critical thinking and decision-making confidence and competence; improved professional satisfaction; stronger leadership and communication skills; and greater knowledge of self-care, wellness and resiliency strategies.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current BLS certification required.

EXPERIENCE: Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and collaborate with other team members. Ability to be flexible, set priorities, solve problems and use proper judgment in difficult situations. Proficiency in clinical applications preferred at time of hire. Incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazard and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances and potential injury.
Reaching, stooping, kneeling and crouching approximately 25%of a workday. Visual and physical ability required to work at a computer terminal. Standing and walking approximately 50% of a workday. Lifting approximately 50–100 pounds frequently and with assistance occasionally. Physical abilities required to push, pull or transport equipment and patients.
